Sexual violence is a traumatic event that can have a significant impact on a survivor’s mental health. In this training, we will be discussing the relationship between sexual violence and suicide, myths surrounding suicide, and how to identify and respond to a crisis.

Join us this Suicide Prevention Month and take away specific, practical, and applicable skills to help you address suicidal thoughts in a trauma-informed way, specifically among those who have experienced sexual violence.

Learning Objectives

Understand the relationship between sexual violence and suicide risk.
Recognize the difference between suicidal ideation and suicidal intent.
Develop skills to acknowledge someone’s thoughts of suicide in a trauma-informed way.
Learn how sexual violence can affect the needs of a person struggling with thoughts of suicide, and how to support them.
Explore different avenues for ongoing support and resource options.

1) Select your tickets.

Choose the ticket or package that applies to you or your group and check-out. You must do this to receive the webinar information, even if you’re registering as a survivor.

2) Get Registered.

After purchasing your ticket, you will receive a confirmation email. In that email will be the Zoom webinar registration information. In order to secure the webinar and allow for on-demand viewing, participants are required to register via Zoom as well using the link in the confirmation email. If you forget this step, you will still be able to complete when the training begins.

3) Join live or on-demand

After registering via Zoom, you will receive another email. This will include the information you need to enter our webinar on the day of the event. If you intend to view on-demand, or miss the webinar unexpectedly, that link will allow you to access the recording once the training is over.

4) After the Training.

The day following the training, those who attended will receive their certificate of completion and resource sheet via the email they registered with. Those who purchased group packages and those who attend the training on-demand will receive specific information regarding how to obtain their materials.

Ashley Badgley MA LGPC

Ashley Badgley is the Executive Director at Survivors.org. She is an advocate who has worked in violence prevention and intervention for 15 years.

Based in Washington, DC, she has experience in direct and indirect services. Most of her work has been related to sexual violence, but she also advocates for suicide prevention and works with survivors of suicide loss.

Ashley has a BA in Journalism from Columbia College Chicago, an MA in Gender Studies from George Washington University, and an MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of New Haven. She is an LGPC in Washington, DC.
